Hello Year 6,

This week's themed learning is about sport. The picture on the tab is of Eddie, an otter who lived at Oregon Zoo. He lived to the age of 21, which made him one of the oldest otters on the planet! At 16, he developed arthritis and his keeper gave him some exercises to keep him moving so he learnt to play basketball. You'll notice that he even exhibited one of our Habits of Mind: persistence!

Well done on another week of home learning. Hope that you have been able to get outside this week despite the showers. 

We are looking forward to welcoming some more of you back on Monday; the classroom is ready for you. Let's hope that you can bring some sunnier weather with you!

Thank you to those of you who have emailed through Purple Mash this week as part of your independent Task on Tuesday. Instructions can be found on the links for Tuesday this week if you have not managed this so far. It has been great to hear what you have been doing. If you have not messaged this week, let us know which sports star you chose or how you found writing a sports commentary for an animal. Did you use the clip we posted or did you video one of your own?

Thank you to those of you who have completed the independent challenge yesterday! You can still do Tuesday's independent challenge on any of the other days, if you have not done it already.

Great to see some home learning sports quizzes being sent in. Many thanks if you have done so already! We'll test our knowledge out on those and share them on our Year 6 Gallery page- answers posted the next day.

We are adding a new tab to the Year 6 section with links to extra Maths activities if you need something else. There are some links already on the Useful Websites tab, This is getting quite full so a 'Just Maths' one will be added. 

Your independent task is to send an email in Purple Mash to us. If you are not sure what to do, there is a screen-by-screen guide below.
