Friday 19th June

The end of another week and, for some of us, the end of our first week back at school.

Today there is the end of our work on fractions and we will be writing about the rainforest today too. Don't foget today is spelling test day and there is another transition activity to complete too.

Enjoy your weekend,

Mrs Whyatt and Mrs Rees

Thursday 18th June

I hope that you have enjoyed the beginning of the story. There is a new chapter with questions on the website today.

We are looking at the artist Henri Rousseau in school today and there is an activity that you can try based on his work. Send in a picture of what you do and we can share what we do in school.

Dont forget to practise your spellings - test day tomorrow!

Wednesday 17th June

Everyone is at home today so everyone is doing the same thing.

Maths today is some investigations. There may be more than one answer so don't worry if it's different to someone else's.

English today is more geting ready for our rainforest writing and we are starting to read a new book together. Look for a new folder called Robin Hood which will have photos of the book. If you are in school tomorrow, try and remember your words for Thursday.

There is another transition project for today and you can always try another of the themed learning projects.

Tuesday 16th June

Yesterday at school, we looked at naming some of the trees in the school grounds by looking at the leaves. Can you name the trees in your garden or the trees that you see on your daily walk? There are tree identification links on the 'Year 6 recommends' page.

More fractions today and another look at the picture on Pobble ready for writing at the end of the week.

We are also starting to look at a new book that we will be reading together, either at school or at home, and will be looking at for the next few weeks. We'll also be using this book to do some writing too.

You are also more than welcome to try the maths and English activites that are on the themed learning sheets.

Keep working hard.

Monday 15th June

Welcome to week 10 of Home Learning - this week's theme is the rainforest and there is lots to find out!

Today should have been the day that some of us were setting off on out trip to The Pioneer Centre. We're so sad that we aren't able to take you and that you aren't having this wonderful experience together.

This week we will also be welcoming some of you back in to school. We can't wait to see you and begin learning in our classroom again. We'll also be starting to read a new book together this week and we will be posting pages from it each day as the week goes on.

This week's maths will also be based on some videos and then there will be learning taks for them each day. I will post the answers tomorrow.

Another addition this week, are transition tasks. These are tasks that start to prepare you for your new school. We will be thinking back on your time at Thorns and also looking forward to your new schools.

Keep working hard,

Mrs Whyatt and Mrs Rees
