Online Safety Advice

Y6- Remember all we have learnt about online safety and searching safely. Now we are using the Internet for Home Learning, it is really important that you stay safe not only physically but also online:

Top Tips

Agree some rules about online use with your family- check they are aware which sites you are visiting and how much screen time you need that is not home learning -related.

Sleep is also an important part of staying healthy. Try to turn off devices wel before sleep time.

Only communicate with people you know and have met in real life.

Search for child-friendly sites using trusted websites or by filtering searches with 'for kids' / 'for KS2'  at the end of your search term.

Be aware that some websites have adverts- do not click on these

Remember stay safe and SMART-

Safe- Keep personal information safe.

Meet- Meet only people you know in real life when you go online.

Accepting- Do not accept any link in an advert or request unless you are sure they have sent it to you. You could always phone to ask.

BE SMART WITH A HEART

Reliable- You can't trust everything you see online to be true. They could inaccurate, out of date, or not entirely true. Use the top tip on searching safely and check information with three websites you trust. Talk to your trusted adult about what you found.

Tell- Tell a trusted adult if something upsets, worries or confuses you. They are there to help, as are we.

Always be respectful and kind to others online.

Free Audio Books from Amazon

Amazon have announced that they are making some audio books free whilst schools are closed. See the link below.

Harry Potter and the Philospher's Stone is now available on Audible!

This may be for you! The range is now expanding so there may be something for you or younger family members. Look in Elementary section or lower.

Try 'The Wind in the Willows' for a relaxing time. It is about four riverbank creatures (Mole, Ratty, Toad and Badger) and their friendship and escapades- messing about on the river or revving about in Toad's new car.  A classic fiction novel  read by some famous actors. It gets 4.5 stars on the website.

Virtual Days Out

Visit museums and galleries all over the world with virtual tours of some great locations.

There are some really interesting places to visit. My favourites are the Atlanta Zoo Panda Cam and Buckingham Palace so far. I have not explored all of them yet! We should have a viirtual class visit to one of them - let me know where you think we should go!
