On Wednesday 7th November, Years 5 and 6 visited the Peace Memorial in Stevens Park as part of their work on The First World War. We were met in the park by Mr Homer from the local British Legion, who gave us a tour of the memorial and led us in a short service of remembrance. The children were also asked to decorate the memorial in the park with poppies, ready for the weekends' memorials. Despite the weather, including a real deluge on the walk back, the children behaved perfectly and were a real credit to our school.
