Visit to War Memorial - Stevens Park Quarry Bank

On Tuesday 7th November 2017, Year 6 visited the War Memorial in Stevens Park, Quarry Bank. They met with Mr Eric Homer, a representative from The Royal British Legion, who led a service for the children. The children then read the famous World War I poem by John McCrae 'In Flanders Fields', this was followed by the 'Last Post' and a minute silence. Finally they laid a Poppy Wreath, which the class made using red felt and buttons. The class are now making clay poppies for a memorial garden within the school grounds. This was a wonderful experience for our children and they were extremely well behaved.
