Monday 30th March

Phonics/Reading

I the my are

of no he she

Hi everyone, hope you've managed to have a nice weekend. For today's phonics/reading activity I would like you to choose 3 or 4 tricky words from your tricky/red word list in your pack. Then I would like you to practise writing these words until you can remember them, however I don't just want you to use a pen and paper, I would like to use something messy to write in (sorry parents!) maybe flour, shaving foam, sand, glitter or paint, use whatever you like!

Maths

For maths today I want you to get moving, play the top ten counting songs on youtube (link below) and sing and dance along. When children are singing they are taking in information and training the brain without realising it. Singing and dancing boost oxygenation in the bloodstream and helps boost alertness and brain power!

Expressive Arts and Design

Today I would like you to set up your very own home school, use teddies or dolls as your students and pretend to be the teacher. See if you can teach your own phonics or maths lesson and sing songs with your class. Don't forget they need snack time and lunch time and you will need to take the register. This is a good way for creating familiar role play which will encourage feelings of security and safety.

Tuesday 31st March

Phonics/Reading

Look at the pictures below - can you write the cvc (Consonant, vowel, consonant) word that matches each picture. Use your 'Fred Fingers' to help you by pinching the sounds before you write them. As an extra challenge can you think of and write a sentence containing each word?

Maths

Find yourself a dice, roll the dice and identify the number being shown - what is one more than that number? Go on a hunt around the house to find the number that is one more, you may for example find it on a clock, calculator, in a newspaper. Roll the dice again and repeat. If you feel confident with identifying one more then have a go at one less. If you don't have a dice write numbers 1 - 6 on paper and cut or rip them into individual pieces, then fold them up and pick them one at a time out of a cup or bowl.

Expressive Arts and Design

Today I would like you to create your own band. For this you will need:

-Pots, pans and wooden spoons

- Old food containers with lids

- Rice, pasta, beads or anything that will rattle.

Make some shakers - If you have empty containers then clean and decorate the outside by painting, collaging, whatever you have in the house, fill with pasta or rice. Create some drums by turning over pots and pans. Think about some of the nursery rhymes we sing in class and bang or shake in time to the rhythm. You could even put some rhymes on youtube and play along with those but try to make sure you listen for the rhythm and beat or shake along with it, you don't want to be playing so loud that you miss the music. Happy playing everyone and parents - I'm sorry for this one! Lol

Wednesday 1st April

Phonics/Writing

Today you can have a day off to relax....only joking, April Fools! hehe

So for today I would like you to go onto the oxford owl website (link below) and have a look at the online reading books on there. As we are unable to change your books every week this will be a good site for you to check weekly as you can read a range of books from there that match our phonics. Today I would like you to choose one you think you will be able to read and then read it to your parents, siblings, dog or whoever else will listen! There is a huge range to choose from, most of you should be choosing from the 4-5 age band however some of you may want an extra challenge and will choose an older age band. All you have to do is register first before you can access them.

Maths

For maths today I would like you to use some of the methods we have learnt in class to solve the addition problems below. You can either work them out by adding two lot's of objects together (you could use toy animals, beads, pegs, lego anything you have lot's of), you could use your fingers, lock the larger number in your head and count on using objects or use the number line below to help.

4 + 3 = 5 + 2 = 7 + 3 =
2 + 9 = 11 + 7 = 10 + 6 =

Expressive Arts and Design / Understanding the World

Today I would like you to draw a picture of your family - your whole family, nans, grandads, cousins, as many people as you can fit onto the page. Once you have drawn your picture talk to a grown up about how you are related to these people, e.g. what does it mean to be a cousin. Then think of some fond memories you may have with them e.g. Grandma sometimes makes me tea at her house.

Thursday 2nd April

Good morning everyone! Hope you had a lovely day yesterday. Did anyone play an April Fools joke on their family? Here is your learning for today.

Phonics/Reading

Have a go at these short online stories. Parents, please turn off the volume so it encourages the children to read each sentence for 'Peg the Hen'. The volume is good for the introduction of 'The Car Race'. The children don't have to read all of them but I've hopefully put on something to suit every child.

Maths

Watch this clip from Numberblocks.

Parents, this clip can be used in a number of different ways. Please allow children to watch straight through before doing any of these activities.

1) Watch the clip again and your child writes the numbers as he/she hears them.

2) Watch the clip again and stop each time the daffodil page appears. Get your child to count the daffodils. Please ensure they count carefully. Again they could write the numeral to represent the number counted.

Children, did you noticed the song kept going from night to day. Ask your parents to take photos of the things you do in the day and at night. Parents, I realise that the clocks have gone forward so some children may be getting ready for bed when it's daylight. If this is the case, then you could use bathtime, having supper, brushing teeth or storytime as examples for getting ready for the night.

Physical Development/Maths- Shape and Space/Language and Communication

In PE, this week we were going to use the apparatus to go under and over. Today we can still do this at home but you must listen to your parents and IT IS NOT A RACE. This is a listening activity. With your parents, can you make an obstacle course so you have to go over, under, up and down. For example, under the table,up the stairs, over the bed, down the stairs, over the cushions on the floor, under the throw. Listen to what your adult says. They may change the instructions so LISTEN CAREFULLY.

Maybe if you have a brother or sister you could give instructions. REMEMBER, IT IS NOT A RACE and please go carefully.

After all that activity, you can practise your Buddy Breathing with a Teddy. Remember we did this on our Mindfulness Day. Parents playing some calm, relaxing music can help or the soothing stories link below is quite sweet. It's fun to do it with them as well.

Hope you've had a lovely day and I'll have some more learning activities tomorrow.

Friday 3rd April

Phonics/Reading

Good Morning everyone. It's Friday again!! Today will be your last for home learning as it is the Easter Holidays. But don't worry we will put up some ideas for you to get on with whilst we are all still at home.

Today, I thought we would play word popcorn.

You will need small pieces of paper with one of these words written on them. Get an adult to write the words for you. The words are you, your, he, she, me, be, they, my and are. Make sure the words are folded up and put them into a cup.

Either you or an adult puts their hand over the cup and shakes them. You then shout 'Popcorn' and the words are thrown up into the air.

How long does it take you to find each word, read it correctly and put it back into the cup?

Did you get them right?

Have another go. Can you get them all right? If you did, try it again. Can you be quicker?

Maths

Draw a picture of what you might see in the sky during the day. Now draw a picture of what you might see in the sky at night.

Well Done, I bet they look super.

Parents, yesterday I asked if you could take photos of the children doing things during the day and at night. If you can, please print them out. If you can't don't worry, the children can either point to the picture they would put each photo on or draw the photo.

Children, I would like you to sort your photos. Put all the things you do during the day on your day picture and all the things you do at night on your night picture. When you're happy with the way you have sorted them stick or draw them on.

Understanding of the World/ Expressive Arts and Design

Today on your exercise walk I would like you to take this checklist with you.

Parents, this checklist is from the Twinkl website. They are offering parents free access for a month so it shouldn't cost you anything to print out. If, you can't print it out don't worry maybe get the children to copy the pictures.

When you get back from your exercise walk, create a spring picture with the things you spotted. Did you find any other things not on the checklist that are a sign of spring? You could paint the picture or collage it. When you have finished and it's dry, put it in your window to bring a springtime smile to all your neighbour's faces.

Well children, it's officially The Easter Holidays now. Hope you all have a lovely Easter and make sure you all stay safe. Don't forget, keep checking in on us here for some ideas and activities to get up to at home.
