Over the last 2 weeks we have been reading and learning some of the actions and phrases from We're Going on a Bear Hunt. The children have retold the story by acting it out in the tuff tray using props, puppets and lots of hands-on materials.

They followed the adventures through the long, wavy grass, through the deep, cold river, through the thick, oozy mud - although this did dry up a little! They then explored through the big, dark forest, into a swirling, whirling snowstorm and then bravely into a narrow gloomy cave!

They have also made sensory story map collages, and joined in with the actions. We have had great fun (pictures to follow - watch this space)! 

We are just coming to the end of our 2nd week of phonics. The children have just started learning some of their initial sounds. So far we have covered s, d, t, a , i and n. It would be wonderful if you could help consolidate these sounds by practising these at home or when out and about (can you spot the "i" sound on the sign, for example). This would really help them recognise each sound and makes it into a fun game!
