DECEMBER NEWS

MUFTI DAY

Friday 29th November—final mufti day in preparation for the Christmas fair. We would like pupils to bring a £1 donation which will be used to create a pamper hamper.  

‘DECK THE HALLS’ DAY

Monday 2nd December—Children can wear Christmas jumpers or tops if they wish but it is not expected. They must wear uniform on their bottom half. Parents are invited into classes at 2pm to help children make Christmas crafts for the Christmas fair.

50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THORNS PRIMARY— START OF OUR YEAR OF CELEBRATIONS

Tuesday 3rd December— we are having a “party-style” indoor picnic lunch to start our celebrations. You can order your child’s party style box meal on-line or they can bring a packed lunch from home. If you have already ordered a lunch for the 3rd December, you may need to amend this as a new menu has been added. Children can wear party clothes on this day.

PARENTS’ EVENING

Wednesday 4th December 3.30pm—7.00pm. Appointment letters were sent home on 15th November. If you have mislaid the letter and wish to make an appointment with your child’s teacher, letters are available from the office. All parents will be receiving an appointment.

COFFEE MORNING

Thursday 5th December– Mrs Jordan will be hosting a coffee morning for parents in the hall at 9.00am. All parents welcome.

CHRISTMAS FAIR

Friday 6th December. The Christmas fair will begin at 2pm. As last year if you wish to visit the fair you can collect your child from their class doors at 2pm. Children not collected at 2pm will stay and help in their classrooms on their class stall until 3.15pm.

CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS LUNCH

Wednesday 11th December—This will need to be ordered on-line by Wednesday 4th December. The school choir will be performing at The Merry Hill Centre at 1pm. We welcome your support so feel free to come along! During the afternoon we have a theatre group coming to school to perform Jack and the Beanstalk pantomime. This has been made possible by your support at our fundraising events.

GENERAL ELECTION

Thursday 12th December— As the school is used as a polling station we will unfortunately be closed to children on this day for safety reasons.

CHRISTMAS PARTY DAY

Thursday 19th December— Children can wear their own/party clothes on this day, They will have parties in classrooms and a disco during the afternoon 

CAROLS IN THE PLAYGROUND

Weather permitting carols on KS1 playground for you at around 9.10am. We welcome parents to stay and join the sing-a-long. Children to wear uniform.

END OF TERM

School closes for the Christmas break at 1.30pm and re-opens on Tuesday 7th January 2020.

Monday 6th January school is closed to children for staff INSET.
